BV Foot Clinic: Find Footwear More Fitting than Flip-Flops

Find Footwear More Fitting than Flip-Flops

While flip-flops may be the most popular summer footwear, they’re not the safest. Not only does their loose-fitting nature cause many ankle sprains, but their arch-less soles often lead to the straining of Achilles tendons and calf muscles.

So if you’re going light on your footwear, at least make it a bit more fitting, with strapped sandals that stay on securely and offer some arch support. Remember, foot problems can quickly and effectively ruin your summer plans; and if you incur any, let us quickly and effectively treat them!

BV Foot Clinic: Make Sure Your Shoes are Sans Sand

Make Sure Your Shoes are Sans Sand

If you love walking barefoot on the beach, beware of hidden hazards, including broken glass, shells, and rusty metal fragments. Of course, even the sand can make tiny cuts in your feet; and if you’re diabetic, that can lead to infection and serious problems.

So, be careful at the beach and remember the importance of practicing diligent diabetic foot care.  And if you want to take any sand home, make sure it’s not in your shoes, where it can really do some damage.
