To Keep Your Ankles Well, Don't Let them Swell
Punxsutawney
Phil’s prediction of an early spring seems to have been accurate. So if the
soaring temperatures have you, like many others, ready to get out and hit
the ground running, just don’t hit it too hard. Every year, millions of people, overdoing outdoor activities after months of being sedentary, end up spraining their ankles.
Of course, slight twists with minimal tenderness and swelling can be treated with
R.I.C.E. – rest, ice (20 minutes,
four times per day), compression (by wrapping
with a bandage), and elevation. But if you get a serious, crippling, ligament-tearing sprain, with swelling
and bruising that extends through the foot, call us, as it will need professional treatment to heal properly. Remember, we want you to have a SWELL time – without getting a SWOLLEN ankle!
